The killarney Senior team had to wait until the third series of games to get their campaign off to a winning start again a spirited Dunmanway side at home, on a score line of 26-18.
The killarney pack were very dominant in the set pieces throughout the game which led to two very well taken tries in the first half by hooker Ger Moynihan, one of them was converted by Paudie Sheehan. Dunmanway replied well with a penalty after two previous opportunities that had dropped short, they then got a try to put them back into the game, but the Killarney number eight David Howard touched down just before the halftime break to give killarney a commanding 19-11 lead at halftime.

Killarney turned down a few kickable penalty opportunities in the second half as they were clearly after the four try bonus point which they managed to achieve again through the platform of the scrum, scrum half Josh Fawcett showed the Dunmanway defense a clean pair of heels dotting down under the posts giving the killarney kicker Paudie Sheehan the opportunity to add the extra two points. With the game very much decided, killarney manage to get all thier reserves some valuable game time. Dunmanway had the final say scoring a consolation try in the dying minutes. Killarney Coach Diarmuid O’Malley added “after two very frustrating games, it was good to finally get the win under our belts, the team is progressing well and I have no doubt we can use this game as a catalyst to get the season up and running”
