U14 West Munster Plate - Killarney Red 17 Castleisland 19

Castleisland just edged out Killarney Red in a frantic finish at Aghadoe. The Red team were applying pressure to the Castleisland tryline looking for the winning score as time ran out.

Both teams started fast and the game was intense for the start. Ciaran Doyle and Ignacio Moreno set the tone with some excellent tackles, and in attack Adam Lynch, Jack Donoghue and Ciaran led the way. GearĂ³id O'Connor got the opening try - Adam Lynch carrying the ball forward and moving the ball wide we outflanked the stretch Castleisland defence. Ciaran Doyle provided the second try after a great break from halfway which Luke Courtney converted. The Red were then unlucky to concede a late try from Castleisland but showing great spirit they pushed for the winning score but a win eluded them.

The Red team can still be proud of a super display - most of the team are U13 so will be playing at this level again next year. This series of matches in the Plate has been invaluable experience - training is no substitute for playing matches. We're expecting a lot more from this group next season.
